Alignment of regional NRM activities to the Reef Plan
Regional investment strategies (RISs) and Coastal Catchments Initiative (CCI) project alignment to the Great Barrier Reef Water Quality Protection Plan
Status:
Complete
Summary:
This evaluation identified and assessed how currently funded regional NRM group activities contribute to the achievement of Reef plan actions and objectives.
The evaluation:
- addressed the scope, adequacy and likely effectiveness of the funded regional body activities
- identified a range of 'good news stories' exemplifying successful and innovative approaches
- identified gaps, constraints and opportunities
- discussed a reporting mechanism to enable collation of Reef plan activities within existing and proposed NRM reporting arrangements.
The evaluation focused on five regional groups:
- Terrain NRM
- Burdekin Dry Tropics NRM
- Mackay Whitsunday NRM Group
- Fitzroy Basin Association
- Burnett Mary Regional Group.
The regional NRM plans, RISs and Coastal Catchment Initiative's projects were examined to identify the main activities, management action targets, and resource condition targets that relate to the Reef plan.
This was followed by one-day workshops in each region and subsequent discussions to ensure accuracy.
