Monitoring and evaluation
Regularly collecting data on the social characteristics of a region, or monitoring, serves several important purposes including:
- collecting baseline data to provide snapshots of the region at regular points in time
- understanding the capacity of a regional body’s stakeholders to deliver objectives identified in their NRM plans
- understanding the capacity of a regional body to deliver their NRM plans
- assessing the impacts (positive and negative) of the NRM plans on the regions.
A number of tools and guidance products have been developed to assist regional bodies when monitoring each of the above.
