Social and economic considerations in NRM
Planning for natural resource management requires an understanding of the social and economic conditions, charactersitics, needs and aspirations of a region. This need arises because management actions identified within regional NRM plans will need the support of communities and individuals to be successful.
The social and economic SIP team in the Department of Natural Resources and Water can provide assistance in using any of the guidance products or tools referred to. The team is funded under the state-level investment projects, part of the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality.
This section of the web site is for regional NRM bodies when developing and implementing their NRM plans, and support the following social and economic considerations:
- collecting, analysing and using social and economic data
- conducting social and economic impact assessments
- accessing social and economic research in Queensland
- accessing funding for NRM projects
- designing, accessing and evaluating incentive programs
- monitoring and evaluating the social and economic outcomes of NRM programs.
