Research and SIPs
Research and science
To manage our natural resouces soundly, we rely on scientific information about the condition of our natural resources and the effect on natural systems of the way we manage the land, water and vegetation.
The Department of Natural Resources and Water, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries and the Cooperative Research Centres all play a role in creating the science that underpins the way we manage our natural resources.
State-level evaluations in Queensland
Funded by the Australian Government through the Natural Heritage Trust, state-level evaluations were conducted to investigate the success of regional delivery of NRM objectives in Queensland and bordering northern Australia regions.
Find out more about the evaluations.
State-level investment projects (SIPs)
For truly sustainable natural resource management, some regional activities need to be coordinated and planned at the state level.
The Natural Heritage Trust and the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality, which underpin healthy regions, contain both state-level and regional activities.
The state-level activities are known as SIPs.
