Funding opportunities
There is a range of funding sources for NRM projects:
Australian Government - Grants
- Provides information on NRM grants offered by the Australian Government as well as information on previously funded projects. To start searching, visit the A to Z of funding opportunities.
Community Activity Grants
- Offered annually by the Department of Natural Resources and Water, grants of up to $5000 for community groups (or $10 000 for a genuine collaboration between two or more organisations) are available to help raise awareness of NRM issues.
Envirofund
- Provides grants of up to $50 000 to help local communities undertake projects that promote sustainable resource use and conserve native plants and animals. See the Envirofund website for more information.

- Offered by the Environmental Protection Agency an overview of available funding for environmental management projects is provided. To start searching, visit the GrantsConnect website.
Lifestyle WaterWise grants
- A $10 million program to encourage not-for-profit organisations to reduce consumption of treated drinking water. To apply or get more information, visit the Department of Natural Resources and Water website.
NRM incentives database
- Contains information about funding and other incentives for community groups and landholders. To start searching, visit the NRM incentives database.
Queensland Government - Grants

Water Fund
- Offered by the Australian Government this fund provides grants to help local communities promote the wise use of water. See the Water Fund website for more information.
