Community NRM groups
There are many local community groups and one is sure to suit your interest. The range includes:
- NRM groups including Landcare, Bushcare, Coastcare, Rivercare and Waterwatch. Visit the Queensland Water and Land Carers website for more information.
- Conservation and environmental groups, such as state and regional conservation councils and special interest groups like Bird Watchers, welcome new members and volunteers. See the Queensland Conservation Council website for more information.
- Service organisations, like Lions and Rotary that are often involved in community NRM events. See the Lions website and Rotary website for more information.
Start a community NRM group
There are Landcare, Coastcare, Bushcare, Rivercare, Waterwatch, catchment management and other NRM groups throughout Queensland but maybe there’s not one in your area.
These ‘care’ groups have been started by energetic local people who are passionate about caring for natural resources in their area. If there is no ‘care’ group in your area and you are interested in starting one, visit the Queensland Water and Land Carers website for information and advice.
The Department of Natural Resources and Water provides $500 establishment grants to eligible NRM groups. For more information contact the Grants Coordinator.
