Land protection officer
Develops and coordinates programs for managing weeds and pest animals.
Activities undertaken include:
- facilitating state government, local government, community and industry participation in cooperative programs for pest management
- providing technical and operational advice and information on pest management
- cooperating with local governments to ensure compliance with regulatory provisions for pest management
- coordinating and undertaking direct control of new incursions of Class 1 weeds and pest animals.
This position requires a minimum of a diploma level qualification (or equivalent).
Extension officer
Provides coordination and specialist support for education and awareness programs for natural resource management.
Activities undertaken include:
- developing and coordinate promotional events to improve awareness of, and participation in, natural resource management
- writing media releases to improve awareness of NRM
- developing and disseminate technical and advisory information.
This position requires a minimum of a degree level qualification (or equivalent).
Project officer
Coordinates projects addressing new and emerging natural resource management issues.
Activities undertaken include:
- collating and reviewing information relevant to NRM issues
- developing and implementing projects
- evaluating projects and reporting achievements.
Policy officer
Develops policies and strategies for natural resource management.
Activities undertaken include:
- analysing natural resource management issues
- developing policy options and strategies
- consulting government, community and industry on proposed policies and strategies.
This position requires a minimum of a degree level qualification (or equivalent).
Scientist
Develops and improves methods for managing natural resources.
Activities undertaken include:
- developing new technologies in natural resource management
- ecological analysis of the causes of natural resource management issues
- adapting management methods to address new and emerging issues
- providing technical advice.
This position requires a minimum of a degree level qualification (or equivalent).
