State and federal government
Regional NRM is a whole of government effort. The main state government agencies involved are:
- the Department of Natural Resources and Water
- the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries
- the Environmental Protection Agency.
Several other state government agencies have a supporting role in regional NRM:
- the Department of Local Government, Planning, Sport and Recreation (through the local government and planning area)
- the Department of the Premier and Cabinet
- the Department of State Development, Trade and Innovation
- Queensland Treasury
- the Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Policy.
Two Australian Government departments are directly involved in regional NRM:
The Joint Queensland-Australian Government NRM Steering Committee (the JSC) is a committee with representatives from the Queensland and Australian Governments that oversee regional NRM in Queensland.
