Local government
In Queensland there are 125 councils and 32 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island community councils.
Local councils are now becoming more involved in the social, economic and cultural development of their communities and improving local living environments.
Local government plays a big part in the cooperative approach between community NRM groups, local, state and federal governments when developing plans or policies that affect natural resource management.
