Water
As Australia is the driest inhabited continent water is one of our most precious resources.
The Department of Natural Resources and Water manages water resources across the State, in partnership with communities, water service providers and individual licence holders.
Management of this finite resource includes:
- planning for the long-term security of supplies across all catchments
- assisting rural water users use water more efficiently
- working with local councils to improve urban water use.
For more information about water planning and management, see the Natural Resources and Water web site.
The department also works in partnership with other state government agencies — and the National Water Commission— to preserve the environment while ensuring sufficient water for urban and industrial growth in Queensland.
