The Sustainable Landscapes Project is a cross-regional partnership between the Burdekin Dry Tropics NRM (BDTNRM) and the Mackay Whitsunday Natural Resource Management Group (MWNRM). We are re-focusing natural resource management attention on the Eungella community where we hope to 'fix' the 'Broken' River. Plaques, parks and passion

The Mikirri Repatriation Project is a partnership between Diamantina Shire Council and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service. It is funded by DCQ and was developed under the guidance of its Indigenous Facilitator, Dave Thompson. As part of this project, Queensland's Environmental Protection Agency will conduct a biological survey around the culturally important Mikirris (water wells), in the eastern Simpson Desert, to document their biological value to the region. Queensland Water and Land Carers (QWaLC) has announced a record number of nominations for the 2007 Queensland Landcare Awards. This year has seen an increase of 15 per cent on entries received for the previous Awards in 2005. The standard of the nominations has also been very high, with the Westpac Education Award and National Landcare Programme Individual Landcarer Award proving the most popular. Read more...
